Help with B-Side - Vinyl Player. If your question isn't answered here, email [email protected] and say which device you're using.
Getting started
How does B-Side find my music?
Tap Choose Folder and pick a folder in iCloud Drive or on your device. Every folder inside it that holds MP3s becomes a record on your shelf. If the folder you pick holds MP3s itself, it starts playing straight away.
What order do the tracks play in?
Filename order, like the tracks on a side of vinyl. Number your files (01, 02, 03…) to set the order.
Where does a record's sleeve come from?
From the artwork embedded in the MP3s' tags. Titles and artists come from the tags too.
Can I put music on my device without iCloud Drive?
Yes. B-Side has its own folder in the Files app under On My iPhone (or iPad) › B-Side. Copy MP3s there from Files, AirDrop or a Mac (Finder › your device › Files).
Playing
How do I change the turntable?
In the player, tap the Player button (a small turntable, top left, next to the close button) and choose Classic, Retro Deck or Modern Deck.
How do I change the vinyl crackle?
Tap the Vinylize button (a vinyl record) and slide it: all the way left is off, further right is more crackle.
Where are the settings?
Tap the gear at the top left of the library: the background (the sleeve, its colours or dark grey), fading the sleeves at the shelves' edges, haptics, and Remove Folder.
How do I scratch?
Put a finger on the record. Move it either way to scratch, hold it still to stop the music, and flick it to spin it on. Let go and the motor brings it back up to speed.
What does Auto do?
With Auto on, when a record finishes the arm moves on to the next record by itself.
The music sounds slow or fast
Check the pitch fader (and, on the Retro Deck, 33 and 45). On the Retro Deck the quartz light shows when the pitch is exactly 0.
A track takes a while to start
If it's in iCloud Drive and not yet on your device, B-Side downloads it first, so it needs a connection. It downloads the next tracks ahead of time while a record plays.
I retagged some files
Pull down on the library, or choose Refresh from the ••• menu. B-Side also notices changed files when you come back to the app.
Widgets
Touch and hold the Home Screen, tap Edit › Add Widget and search for B-Side. There are Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, and a play/pause control for Control Centre.
Starting again
In the library, tap ••• › Remove Folder…. B-Side stops, forgets the folder and where you were in each record, and goes back to its welcome screen. Your MP3s aren't touched.
Privacy
